Inside Baccarat's Fourth Annual Petit Slam
Naomi Osaka and Gayle King brought charisma and competitive spirit to Baccarat Hotel New York's Fourth Annual Petit Slam.
As the excitement of the US Open returned to New York City, Baccarat Hotel New York once again welcomed the season in signature style with the Fourth Annual Petit Slam.
Beneath the glow of Baccarat's iconic crystal chandeliers, guests gathered in the Petit Salon for an evening that blended sport, culture, and celebration. This year's highly anticipated match featured four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and award-winning journalist and cultural icon Gayle King, who traded tennis racquets for paddles in a spirited ping pong showdown atop Baccarat's custom crystal-netted table.
The evening unfolded with equal parts competition and camaraderie as guests gathered around Baccarat's iconic crystal-netted ping pong table for a lively match between Naomi Osaka and Gayle King. Guiding the action was entrepreneur, sports executive, and longtime cultural tastemaker Rich Kleiman, who served as host and referee, bringing his signature wit and energy to the evening. The pair's playful exchanges and friendly rivalry kept guests entertained throughout the match, with Osaka ultimately taking home the Baccarat crystal trophy.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a menu curated by two-Michelin-starred Chef Gabriel Kreuther, featuring elevated bites including bluefin tuna tartlets, stuffed gougères, and other tennis-inspired offerings. Signature cocktails, including the iconic Honey Deuce, and flowing champagne were served in Baccarat crystal, while collectible crystal trophies and exclusive Baccarat tennis balls added a distinctive touch to the celebration.
Beyond the match, Petit Slam once again transformed the hotel into a gathering place for New York's cultural tastemakers, where sport met sophistication in an unforgettable setting. Here's to another year of spirited competition, exceptional company, and the timeless elegance of Baccarat Hotel New York. We'll see you at the table next season.
